President Trump Facebook ban upheld by Oversight Board "indefinite suspension."

Update (1325ET): Facebook's oversight board on Wednesday decided to uphold the company's indefinite suspension of former president Donald Trump, claiming that "Trump’s posts during the Capitol riot severely violated Facebook’s rules and encouraged and legitimized violence."

Responding to the Oversight Board's decision, former President Trump said in a statement:

"What Facebook, Twitter, and Google have done is a total disgrace and an embarrassment to our Country. Free Speech has been taken away from the President of the United States because the Radical Left Lunatics are afraid of the truth, but the truth will come out anyway, bigger and stronger than ever before."

"The people of our country will not stand for it! These corrupt social media companies must pay a political price, and must never again be allowed to destroy and decimate our electoral process."

Big Tech has censored President Trump’s social media accounts, as well as his campaign’s, at least 65 times over the last two years, but has yet to touch Joe Biden’s account or the former vice president’s campaign accounts, an analysis from Media Research Center’s (MRC) Techwatch department revealed.

Resolution may come this week regarding the suspension of former President Donald Trump's Facebook account and whether or not he will be returning to Facebook and Instagram.

The account was suspended by the tech giants quasi-independent oversight board. This is the same oversight board that is responsible for the fact checking of articles across the platform.

Trumps account was suspended when the Jan. 6th insurrection took place. The verified account was found in violation of community safety standards for "Inciting violence on the capital".

The account was suspended on January 7th, just one day following the incident that led to the killing of a woman inside of the capitol building. Under the accounts suspension it stated that at the very least the suspension would last until his presidency was over.
