China has ramped up military operations in the Taiwan strait.
Antony Blinken Warns China Taiwan Attack Would Be 'Serious Mistake' as Military Tensions Mount.
"What we've seen, and what is of real concern to us, is increasingly aggressive actions by the government in Beijing directed at Taiwan, raising tensions in the Straits. And we have a commitment to Taiwan under the Taiwan Relations Act, a bipartisan commitment that's existed for many, many years, to make sure that Taiwan has the ability to defend itself, and to make sure that we're sustaining peace and security in the Western Pacific. We stand behind those commitments. And all I can tell you is it would be a serious mistake for anyone to try to change the existing status quo by force," Blinken said
The #Chinese #Communist #Party (CCP) has been making preparations against Taiwan over the past two years. Still, the timing and the intensity of the attack likely depends on whether the United States will fully support Taiwan.
Recently, Chinese fighter jets have entered Taiwan’s southwest air defense identification zone, while China’s "Liaoning aircraft carrier battle group" entered the #MiyakoStrait between #Okinawa and Japan’s mainland Miyako Island.
This corresponds to the CCP’s plan of encirclement. If a war begins, the CCP will probably use the air force as its main offense to control the Bashi Strait in southwestern Taiwan to block U.S. forces from the Indian Ocean and Singapore.
